In response to Amy Lowell’s “Patterns”
Why do people fall in love?
                                           People don’t live forever.
When a person falls in love,
they know about a famous thief
                              called Death.
                       People are also vulnerable to
                       what pain others can inflict.
When people lose a loved one
they fill with anger and sadness

                       People lie to each other.
                       People cheat with each other.
                                     People hurt each other.
                       People beat each other.
                       People kill each other.
So, why do people fall in love?

thoughts and feelings that I have toward love from the situation in the poem.
I wrote this poem because like I mentioned, I have some strong thoughts
and feelings about falling in love and being in love.  Most of the time I find myself
running away when love comes knocking on my door because I have been through
and witnessed some painful relationships.  A less serious relationship that I’m
going through now is a long distance relationship.  We met in Florida on spring
break, and we r...
