Age Of The Internet
Growing up in the 1980’s put me in touch with technology. As I grew up, computers grew up, too. They affected the world because people thought computers were going to replace humans in the workplace. Computers and technology, however always have been an integral part of my life from my earliest years. My computer use began I started out playing computer games such as “Minesweeper” and “Solitaire” on my father’s computer. Gradually, I expanded my computer knowledge and started using CompuServe. Finally, my father decided to buy an Internet Service, American Online, for our family computer. I spent a lot of time using the service because I wanted to learn all I could about the Internet. In the sixth grade, I started using the chat rooms to get to know other people my age. We chatted about everything from school to music and the people I talked to were from all over the world. Talking on-line with students and teenagers from other cities helped me learn more about their homes and lives. An example of this was when I was 16 years old and I chatted with people who lived in New York. I was going to visit the city and I wanted to know where to go and what to do for fun. After chatting with teenagers from New York I learned about the places to go that would be the most interesting to me before I left Chicago. This made my trip more interesting for me than if I would have gone there with just a map. Another trip that it was able to help me with was when I was in sixth grade. We were having all the travel plans done through a popular travel agency. Then, the travel agency stole all of the money we gave them and left us only with our plane tickets. This encouraged my father to get involved in the planning process of the trip. He was able to find us places to stay, a bus with a tour guide, good restaurants, places to shop, and many other things through the Internet. Eventually, the trip eventually was a bi...
